Nutrition care in other Health Professions
There is currently no licensure law for acupuncture in this state. If there is an exclusive scope of practice nutrition licensing law (red or orange on the map) in this state, then it is illegal for acupuncturists to provide nutrition counseling unless they obtain a nutrition license, or fall under an explicit exemption, which is rare. Practicing acupuncturists MUST review the scope of the nutrition law including all exceptions and exemptions to assess whether they are legally able to use nutrition tools. The language of the chiropractic law in Kansas is broad and all incompassing and could be interpreted to include all forms of nutrition care. Chiropractic is defined in the law as a person who, "examines, analyzes and diagnoses the human living body, and its diseases by the use of any physical, thermal or manual method" and who, "treats the human body by manual, mechanical, electrical or natural methods or by the use of physical means, physiotherapy (including light, heat, water or exercise), or by the use of foods, food concentrates, or food extract".

According to the state licensure law the definition of naturopathic medicine includes the following language related to nutrition care, "a system of health care practiced by naturopathic doctors for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of human health conditions, injuries and diseases, that uses education, natural medicines and therapies to support and stimulate the individual's intrinsic self-healing processes, and includes prescribing, recommending or administering: (1) Food, food extracts, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, whole gland thyroid, botanicals, homeopathic preparations…; (2) health care counseling, nutritional counseling and dietary therapy."
